Just a short post today, about why performing in a wedding band is one of the best jobs in the world for a musician. That’s a bold statement but really, performing in a wedding band is fantastic, and here are three reasons why…
The wide range of music
When Azure performs at weddings we get to play all sorts of different styles of music from right across the decades. We’re not one of those bands that only plays soul music or only plays disco.
We play plenty of both of those styles but we also play the best-loved pop music from across the decades, we also play some funk, indie music, rock and roll, Motown…
We’re always adding tunes to our repertoire too. Recently we’ve been playing Justin Timberlake’s ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ which is great fun to play and goes down fantastically well on the dance floor! We couldn’t do that if we were a tribute band that had to only play songs by one band or in one style of music.
The dancing
Our main role as a wedding band is to give a performance that will get EVERYONE on the dance floor! Yep, we mean everyone; from your tiny niece to your great grandparents.
Seeing a dance floor fill with guests (and stay full) is a very rewarding experience. With how many other jobs do you see such an immediate and clear response to what you do?
With other kinds of band work you play to an audience that may be seated through the whole performance. Of course the audience may love the music that you play and clap at the end, but that’s really no comparison to seeing 200 people flood a dance floor and throw shapes all night long.
The happiness!
The best reason of all: weddings are HAPPY occasions!
With how many jobs do you get to work for someone on one of the happiest days of their lives, and to contribute further to their happiness?
There’s certainly a lot of responsibility that comes with performing for a client on their wedding day, which is why we take so much care in our planning. We have a perfect track record spanning more than 10 years because we understand how important that day is. There can be no such thing as an excuse for something going wrong. So, we are super serious when it comes to planning and reliability, but super-fun when it comes to the performance.
Performing in a professional wedding band is a pretty unique occupation and we’re very grateful for it.
Conclusion
So, there you have our three top reasons for why performing in a wedding band is one of the best jobs in the world: the music, the dancing and the happiness. What a great combination.
And if you take a look at the top of this post, you’ll see a little photo our singer took midway throughout our performance… that’s what we’re talking about 🙂
